Prevail

On December 10, 1950, during the height of the atomic era, William Faulkner gave his brilliant acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize for literature. In his speech he speaks of the worldwide fear of atomic warfare prevalent in the culture at the time and the writer's responsibility not to make their art from a place of fear, but of hope. 2018 echoes many of those sentiments of uncertainty. Mr. Faulkner's words ring as true as ever.

PREVAIL is a reflection of those sentiments through the characters of the American landscape, sweeping vistas and human faces alike, accompanied by excerpts of Mr. Faulkner’s speech. Hear it in it's entirety here: nobelprize.org/mediaplayer/index.php?id=1397

Filmed and edited by Ryan Scott across the United States.
